This beautiful Neo-Classical clock tower graces
the top of the Empire Building, built in 1906, in what is now
Courthouse Square, in downtown Santa
Rosa, California. Original plans for the
building did not include a clock tower, but it was added due
to strong community pressure. The dome's gilding and the Empire
name were added in the late 1950's, and it housed the Empire
College Schools of Law and Business from 1961 to 1980. The moon
adds a nice compositional element. |
