The turbulent waters of the Merced River below Vernal Falls
carve through this gorge before entering Yosemite Valley, a bit
more sedately, about a mile downstream. The composition of the
light tones of the river against the backlit foreground trees
and the darker rocks and forest provide a study in contrasts
of texture and color. The Merced carries the water from all of
Yosemite Valley's spectacular waterfalls. |
