This powerful waterfall, a part of the Merced
River, is one of Yosemite's great treasures. Its massive size
is only hinted at by the tiny speck of a person in the top right,
sitting on the bench inside the fence. This uncommon view is
taken from the trail between Vernal and Nevada
Falls. A medium shutter speed is fast
enough to stop the flow of water at the top of the falls (but
not at the bottom). Use of a small aperture keeps the entire
scene sharp. I liked the contrast of texture between the rocks
and the water. |
