We had just passed by a ranger giving a photo
talk, solemnly intoning "never
take a photo at noon". Since noon
light is often harsh and contrasty, this is usually good advice.
However, due to Bridalveil
Falls' somewhat backwards position in
Yosemite Valley, this shot, taken
right at noon, yields a beautiful backlit
effect. A shutter speed of about 1/60 of a second, allows the
water to swirl into abstract patterns. The moral? If it looks
good in the viewfinder, take the picture! |
