Spectacular light on a clear winter's day
yields this beautiful portrait of Yosemite's most recognizable
feature. This massive granite formation rises almost 5000 feet
[1500m] above the Yosemite
Valley floor. A front face ground flat
by glacial action gives Half Dome the "half" in its
name. The neutral grays of the rock contrast with the snow, fog,
and the brilliant sky. Use of a small aperture keeps the entire
scene sharply focused, and the inclusion of the branch in the
upper left adds compositional balance. |
