This solitary Marbled Godwit uses its long
bill to probe the mud for snails and clams. A member of the sandpiper
family, this shorebird grows up to 20" long [50cm]. This
scene was exposed for the delicate pastel highlights shimmering
on the water, throwing the bird into silhouette. A high shutter
speed freezes the light on the water, and stops the action of
the waves. |
