This showy menber of the Lily family is native
to South Africa, but is used extensively for ornamental plantings.
I was drawn to the intense jewel-like color of these flowers.
Choice of a wide aperture focuses attention onto the single bloom
and reduces everything behind to out of focus pastel shapes,
a nice contrast to the strong colors of the flower. A macro flash
gives detail to the flower, but is not powerful enough to light
the background, which shows completely black. |
